Street racing in Nashville
The city of Nashville did an amazing job, first off. I’d like to start by saying that the street circuit in Nashville was definitely ready for the crowd. Due to well displayed signage and track maps, most of us were able to navigate around to appropriate areas while there were many people here. The fan experience was exceptional with cashless payments making most of the concession lines move smoothly until later in the day. Plenty of options within 1/4 mile of the facility, parking was great. The heat was unbearable, but to be expected in Nashville in mid-August. The track layout did not lend to competitive racing whatsoever, my number one complaint about this event. The slow corners were way too narrow and slow, and most of the lap was like a pace lap. Secondly, visibility was completely blocked by a gas station sign at the grandstand at turn 8. I understand that with street course racing, visibility is at a minimum. However, the gas station sign could have been lowered for race weekend since the gas station was blocked off and closed for the race weekend anyway. These two reasons are both enough to keep me from returning again next year. Still very satisfied with the overall event and the way The Pretty Reckless was able to handle such a large crowd.
